according to OGF’s concept of fair play, and teaching players the right values and the importance of individual and group development. Players in our recreational and developmental programs learn to be able to analyse basic situations and to quickly choose correct solutions with respect to rules, understanding of team roles, support and cohesion with teammates, etc. It is our belief that players must gain personal experiences of success, failure, cooperation, concentration, responsibility and confidence.

About the game

Played on the largest court of any indoor ball sport (40mx20m), Handball features two teams of seven players passing and dribbling (bouncing) a ball with their hands. The aim is to throw the ball into the opposition’s goal, which happens often: it is not uncommon to see 50 goals or more in a single match. The goal is protected by a goalkeeper. Only the goalkeeper is allowed in the goal area in front of each goal. However, players may jump into this area when attempting a shot at goal but must release the ball before landing. Matches consist of two 30-minute halves, with the team scoring the most goals the winners.

In India, Handball and Handball Federation of India was founded by Mr. Jagat Singh Lohan from Rohtak (Haryana) who was an alumnus of YMCA College of Physical Education of Madras (now Chennai). … The first Senior Men’s Nationa Handball Championship was held at Rohtak (Haryana) in the year 1972.
